In the beginning
Attala Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) and Economic Development Authority of Attala County (EDA) have had a proud existence in Attala County. In the 1970’s, AIDC was developed to promote the area and improve economic growth and quality of life for the area. The AIDC was funded by private local business owners who had a vision that more business would help their existence in the community. In 1992 the Economic Development Authority of Attala County was formed, incorporating the towns and County of Attala County, making the AIDC/EDA a public/private organization.
Who we are
The AIDC/EDA is a public/private not-for-profit organization developed to improve the economic growth and quality of life of Attala County through industrial development.
Mission The Attala Industrial Development Corporation and Economic Development Authority of Attala County is devoted to the improvement of economic growth and quality of life of Attala County.
What we do
The purpose of the AIDC/EDA is to assist local industry, market the community, and work with local governments and others to prepare the community for long-term economic development priorities.
Assistance available to local industries include developed industrial parks; improved access, water, and infrastructure; low cost industrial buildings and sites; tax exemptions and incentives; and bond financing or grants for land, buildings and equipment. Job Training is the most important type of assistance and this assistance is provided by Holmes Community College. Another key component of the community’s economic development effort is the identification of problems and potentials with existing industries.
Marketing is done by contacting outside industry and industrial site selection consultants through mail outs, web sites, e-mail, trade shows, visits, and telephone calls. AIDC/EDA partners with state and regional economic development entities to extend local marketing efforts.
AIDC/EDA is a tool for local elected officials and the private sector in preparing the community for the future. Projects that are currently underway or completed are, construction of a new industrial park, airport improvements, four-laning of Highway 12 to I-55, and development of a business incubator facility.
